For Star Valley Ranch Resort: This is a very large retirement community composed of elderly people living permanently in RVs or mobile homes on owner-occupied sites. Everyone here appears to be 85 and older. The people in the office who checked us in were neither friendly nor helpful. The elderly full-time owners surrounding our site ignored us, refused to acknowledge our presence in any way despite all our attempts with a friendly wave and a hello on our part. Since we are considerably younger than the elderly people here we definitely felt that we were not wanted. Unfortunately the community never imposed any development standards so this RV park consists of a mish-mash of different owner sites. Some have an RV, some have small mobile homes. Some have a little bit of landscaping, some do not. Some have fences (of varying materials and heights) some have no fences. Most sites have large sheds that take up a huge chunk of the space. The RV park overall has an ugly appearance due to the lack of development standards. Unfortunately the entire RV park is composed of dusty gravel, thus it looks like it was transplanted from Arizona. Most sites available for rent have neither trees nor grass. Also there are no views of any kind other than the back sides of the other RVs and giant sheds squashed in on all sides about 15 feet away. The few nice sites with views and landscaping, which are located on the edge of the resort on the back side, are not available for rental. There was room for us to open our opposing slides, but no shade from the hot sun. The laundrey facilities are fully in use all day long and thus we could not clean anything. It's not much fun playing golf, if you can get a tee time ( good luck) when you are paired up with someone who is so elderly they cannot keep up with your pace of play. No fire rings, no picnic tables. The trash bins were about 1/4 mile from our site necessitating that we place trash in our vehicle and drive over there, and the bins are locked requiring that you obtain a key from the office, all of which they neglected to tell us when we checked in. Will never go back.

For Star Valley Ranch Resort: Good news: When asked about GS discount because $42/night seemed high, office found an owner lot for $25/night for a week. Nice, hard working staff went the extra mile to help. Lot is good size. No picnic table as driven by owner not resort. Good access to laundry, bathrooms and showers. SVRR golf course well maintained and challenging. $28/18 holes with cart.

Bad news: Closest shower water heater is out for a week. Pool hours are 9:00 to 6:00 with public access. Pickleball inaccessible due to high use. Barn with library off limits on Saturday due to private function. Entire laundry taken up by housekeeping....lucky to get a 2 washers and 1 dryer and only by goodness of owner's daughter.

More bad news: Site 603 has no internet access. Talked to IT and she recommended we go to barn or IT office to connect. Went to barn and downloaded to 1 GB limit/device. They do warn you they will cut you off for 24 hours. Tried today....after 24 hours and I am still blocked and will be blocked until Monday because no one is available on the weekend to unlock an account. No One!

I am angry and will not return or recommend. Definitely not worth $42/night. Other options in area may be worth a try.

For Star Valley Ranch Resort: Overall, not a bad park, but lots of park models and full timers. Some of the older areas of the park look a little junky.

Pickle ball is all league players until noon, unless you want to pay to play.

Laundry is used by housekeeping to do laundry for motel on property - good luck getting in.

Owners have free access to golf course - good luck getting in there as well.

Pull through sites are bare and have trees blocking satellite access.

Check in people seemed confused about how to check people in.

Wi fi is useless, even with a range extender.

For Star Valley Ranch Resort: Enjoyed an overnight here in our motor home. It's a large compound with most of it occupied by owner residents. Those areas are very nice with lots of trees. Transient area has very large pull throughs but not so much trees. Friendly people.

Ansel

For Star Valley Ranch Resort: One hour of south entrance to Teton National Park. Becomimg more & more owner sites. Some Sites are kept open for travelers. Pickleball courts in the Park, golf courses, local river rafting & fishing, ATV trails and Jackson Hole shopping are all close. Friendly area. Reguler RV sites with full hookups. Few Restaurants in Thayne, more in Afton & Jackson.

For Star Valley Ranch Resort: This was one of the odder campgrounds we've visited, probably because it is a "resort" that caters to its owners rather than to tourists passing through. Two of the stranger things were: the sites didn't have fire rings or grills, and the trash receptacles were only available 8AM to 8PM, and even then one had to get keys from the office to unlock them. The bathrooms were OK, not great. There was no picnic table at our site. We were told we could move one from another site.

It was not a bad experience, but hardly one we'll remember as a good one. Next time through we'll try someplace else.
