Montana

For Afton Canyon Campground: We stayed here for one night over the winter in a 30-foot travel trailer. The road was no problem for us, however, there is a hairpin turn near the bottom, and anything larger than 30 feet would not be able to get around it. A very nice campground with beautiful views of the surrounding rock formations. We did hear some train noise but nothing that bothered us. The campground was full, we were lucky to get a space. It did get cold, and we ended up turning our generator on, as did all of the other RVers in the campground.

Boondune

For Afton Canyon Campground: 3 miles from I-15 on washboard dirt road. Last 1/4 mile is steep and deeply rutted 4WD recommended. Mojave river Has lots of standing water which breeds mosquitoes, biting horse flies and dragon flies. Trains running all night kills the night silence. If that isn't enough the red ants will eat you. Days are so hot, your tent will melt.

SpunkyMonkey

For Afton Canyon Campground: Found this little gem thanks to the app. Thank you. Campground is accurate as stated. Impressive view of the train bridge.

Pluses: It's $6. I'm sharing the campground with 1 other person. (Partly a cool thing, partly a creepy thing.) The view of the night sky is INCREDIBLE. Also cool to see a train go by so close.

Downsides: It's August... the bugs and the heat are BAD. Thankfully the bugs don't bite, but they are insistent.

If your campground-mate is an axe murderer, I don't think anyone would hear you scream. It is, indeed, an unpaved unruly 3-mile dirt road to get out here.

Kwakiutl

For Afton Canyon Campground: One must travel three miles of dirt road to get to the campground. We turned our 39 foot MH around a mile in.
