For Crooked Creek Recreation Area: Crooked Creek in the winter is very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in site 114, which is a full hookup site away from the water. We were one of maybe ten campers on Saturday night, and everyone left on Sunday, so we had the entire place to ourselves. The kids loved YHE two playgrounds. The bathroom and showers were awful, so we did not use them. Otherwise, the asphalt slab was fairly level, and the campground is pretty. My brother lives in the area, and he said summer is noisy, but I highly recommend it for winter camping.
