For Captain Clark Montana FWP: Great free campsite at a fishing access on the Yellowstone River. Rustic, so don’t expect any services. Quite and tranquil views of the river, nice one night layover or fishing spot.

For Captain Clark Montana FWP: Really good stop for free camping. We have a 1986 Vixen motor home. The suspension is a little interesting, so there were a couple of spots where a more “rugged” suspension might’ve been welcome-particularly at the turn onto the access road from the main road. No real trouble, just a bit of a drop off. Drive all the way back to get to the campsites. We got a spot with a picnic table and a stone fire ring. An eagle was nesting in the large tree at the edge of the site. Really majestic. If you need cell service (we do for our work while on the road), this site has strong signal. Other: no toilets, bring camp shovel or if you have facilities on your rig, no worries. Please be conscious of riverbank erosion and tread lightly in this space to keep it great.

For Captain Clark Montana FWP: We could NOT FIND a campground, but a parking lot for fishermen. It was the highlight of our trip. Alone, free, and a place where our Shorthair could explore. The sign said not to camp except in designated sites, but there were no sites. Two fish men came & went, but after that the Yellowstone River was ours alone. Breathtaking photos of the sunrise, river, mountains. No wild animals or humans to hurt us!
