Physic of Sea Horse

For Otter Creek Montana FWP: Fishermen that come to take off from the point have no boundaries. We parked our camper and 70% of them circled around us instead of just backing up their boat trailers on the “designated” parking spots. It was annoying. People were circling around in the middle of the night and leaving. We shared the space with 4 other people the first day and 9 the next.

Douglas D Smith

For Otter Creek Montana FWP: Otter Creek is a MT fishing access on the upper Yellowstone River. It is a popular "take out point" for fishermen floating the Yellowstone, but sees very light use for camping. I park my TT here often and have rarely "shared" the site with more than one other camper. This is one of my favorite spots. Classic MT! The site has expansive grass areas right on the river where you can park the RV or pitch a tent. To the west you view the nearby "Crazy" mtns. To the south is a vista of miles of prairie "breaks" leading to the Beartooh Range. There is a clean, well kept pit toilet and one picknic table, but this is dry camping. Bring a table & chairs, water & trash bags. Cell is good on all carriers. The town of Big Timber is 5 miles away and offers all services. MT allows camping at many state owned fishing access sites at some prime locations. This remains the case ONLY because Montana campers and sportsmen keep the sites spotlessly clean and don't abuse this hospitality. BE A GOOD CITIZEN! Please leave a clean camp, carry out all trash, don't put trash in pit toilets, don't drive on soft ground, and collect any litter left by other user. Visit the MT FWP web site and leave a thank you for allowing camping.

Living a Stout Life

For Otter Creek Montana FWP: This is a fairly primitive spot with a few picnic tables and a pit/vault toilet, but it is clean and usable. There’s a boat launch and riverside fishing, a few fire rings. It was a great spot to stay a couple nights and was free. There is no signage requiring any sort of fee or permit for camping, just for fishing and other such activities. There is also good cell signal here, at least on AT&T with about 3 bars of LTE (measured around 10-12mbps download and 8-10 upload).

Scamper Camper

For Otter Creek Montana FWP: Didn’t stay here. It is a beautiful spot, but not my definition of a campground. One picnic table, no grills, pit toilet, no designated campsites. If you’re into primitive it’d be great. I’ve noticed on MT FWP website many boat launch areas are listed as campgrounds, but are not, according to my definition which is defined sites each with own table & fire pit.

Travelin bandit

For Otter Creek Montana FWP: Beautifull spot, fishing, plenty of room for large rv's to park in grass. Launch ramp for boats so there will be some traffic but otherwise a great spot.
