For Grand Gulf Military Monument Park: Nice park with a small Civil War museum and several old buildings and cemetery. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It’s a little bit out of the way but well worth the drive.

For Grand Gulf Military Monument Park: Stayed three nights in a 36' 5th wheel. Our plans were to spend one day in Natchez and one day in Vicksburg. The drive to Vicksburg was do OK, but the trip to Natchez was a little over an hour and if we did it again, we would stay in the Natchez Trail State Park. The campground itself was OK, but pretty tight. We stayed in the upper campground and the pad was pretty level, but there was very little level ground around the pad. The ground falls off fairly rapidly around the pad. We stayed in January, so there were no bugs, but across the road was a large backwater/slough that I'm sure supports large amounts of mosquitoes in the warm weather. The lower campground had more level ground around the pad, but the sites seemed a little smaller. The park does have an interesting museum at the entrance.

For Grand Gulf Military Monument Park: Our experience was very different than Laura’s 8 months ago. Stayed one night each way between Atlanta and Austin, TX. Light rainy weather and got in late first time so didn’t tour around. Only a few thru travelers and 2 long visitors 2 months or so while we were there. Lower level is much better though no fire ring which we don’t care about. Bathrooms clean and giant laundry room. Second time thru we got in early and got to site-see on property, loved it! Hope to see river next time we come.

Laura

For Grand Gulf Military Monument Park: March 2018: Came here for a planned 3 night stay. The military park part of this facility was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. However, all but about 4 spaces in the park were made available for short timers like us. The site was on a hill and really no usable outdoor space for us to enjoy. The site was paved, and sloped to the rear, and a small cliff at the back, so we were concerned about our rig during set up and break down. Mosquitos were bad, due to a recent flooding of the Mississippi. We hiked the loop road and went to the top of the observation tower, and viewed the other historical elements of the park. Other than that there is nothing much to see here. There is a fairly long drive up to Vicksburg, which we did, but next time I would stay closer to town. We did use the restrooms, which were older but pretty clean, doesn't look like the site gets much use, as all of the spaces appear to have long time rigs stored in the spaces. Nearby Nuclear Power Plant is having issues, with many of the rigs parked there associated with that. There were very few people around... we left early just because we could not hang out and enjoy our space, and there wasn't much else to do.

For Grand Gulf Military Monument Park: 2 camping areas, upper and lower. Upper has fire pits but is very rustic. The lower has more of a finished feel but no fire pits. 23$ if 62 and over for FHU. Quite park with Civil War displays.
