For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: Really nice spot for a night or so. About 3-4 miles off I 40 but worth the drive. Called ahead and got City Hall. Asked about availability and spots adequate for 38 ft MH towing. Was told yes. Used google maps to find campground as signage not helpful. Middle row has pull throughs. A little effort to get level. A few eyebrow spots and the rest back Ins. Nicely spaced, paved drives and sites. Lots of shade 30/50 amp and water. Dump station. $25/night. Honor system at entrance. A few rigs look to be long term but mostly clean. Pretty lake for fishing or boating otherwise not much to do. Would definitely stay again.

For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: I don't think you can make a reservation. No online booking. Tried calling, no answer. When we arrived we were told to just go look and see if a site was available, if so, take it and come back and pay. That said, it was a pleasant stop after being beat up by the road here - I-40. The read in from I40 was narrow but not real busy. Lovely lake. Nice trees in campground for shade. Sites are not level for our 32ft Class A but we made do.

For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: This is a really pretty campground about ten minutes off the interstate I-40. It’s right in a really pretty lake. Sites are big and private. There was electrical and water available at almost all of the sites. It was April and they were not collecting camping fees yet so our stay was free. Level pads for bigger rigs. One negative you should be warned of is that the bathrooms were awful. Not so much dirty but they were prison style bathrooms with no doors on the stalls. So my husband guarded the main bathroom door while I used the facility. Bring your own toilet paper as there was almost none. Lots of space in April 2023. Gorgeous place. I would stay again.

For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: Great place for an overnight stop, sites are a really great size and the lake looks wonderful. Only downfalls were all the bugs at night time (we came in May) and the area was pretty dark at night to park which are all expected when staying at any campsites surrounded by nature.

Jen

For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: Great place! In a 35ft Class A motorhome, it’s hard to find more “natural” settings that can accommodate us. Here on a warm October day (84 is the high), we knew we’d need at least 30amp and water to be comfortable. They have flat, paved sites with both. About a dozen or two give or take. Small directional signs about RV sites- keep your eyes open. We’re here mid-Week and only two others here. Shade too! Use the gps map provided by Allstays app. We plugged the name into Google Maps and it took us to the wrong side of the lake. It was only a 10 min drive once we figured it out though. We did not swim, fish or use the restrooms. Would highly recommend! $25/night Only a few miles off I 40.

Laura

For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: Late April 2018: This is a nice spot for an over nighter while traveling on I40, or even a longer stay as the area is full of green trees, grass, wildlife and a lake. We are not huge fans of highway RV parks but had to book it back to NV from AR, so we decided to take the two mile detour to this spot. Four stars because it is close enough to the freeway to make this doable, and you can check in anytime, it is a self service check in, and we paid $25 for one night with water and 30 AMPs. We had 4G Verizon, and some ATT, and 42 channels of TV over the air. You get a concrete table and a bbq type grill and a fire pit at each site, the bbq grills looked a bit weary. We did not use the bathrooms, and I wouldn't here as they had no doors on the toilets or showers, and it did not look very clean, thus we knocked off a star for this and the fact that the camp sites could use some micro trash pickup, too.

Take away: great stop for over night or a couple of days, it was mostly quiet. Got a nice sunset and a hike to the lake which was also hosting a huge flock of water birds when we were here. Saw a ton of tracks for turkeys, raccoons, deer and other critters.

For Wes Watkins Lake Campground: Very nice, fairly level paved sites. Most are pull through. 30 and 50 amp plus water at each site. Dump station is easily accessed on departure. Beautiful wooded area with many options for your evening walk. Bathrooms are locked and keys provided to guests. This is a popular fishing and picnicking area, so summers may be crowded. Fall is our favorite time as the crowd is gone and the trees can be quite beautiful. Lots of wildlife.
