Don

For Pocono Raceway Campground: We went to a non-racing event at the raceway and figured that we would stay at here to make things easier. It was definitely easier from the standpoint of being right there, but there are a few considerations. One, it is a racetrack and as such there are people racing their cars on the track even on non-race days. You are in the infield so it does get a little loud. Second, the sewer can be a little bit of a distance from your rig, so make sure that you have extra sewer hoses. For me I used about 30 feet of hose that was stretched about 50%, so around 15-20 feet. Third, the water connections are strange, in that they ran the water along the top of the fence and that is where the hose bib connection is at. So if you cannot reach to the top of a standard sized fence (6'8" or so), you may need to get something to stand on or a ladder to reach the bib. Water pressure was fine when we went, but it was only 10% occupied and I can see the water pressure suffering on a raceday when it is at 100% capacity. Fourth, the sites have no shade so great for Starlink. They also do not have fire pits or picnic tables. The sites are very utilitarian for seeing races, so take that into account if you are considering using for a non-race stay. As anside, Verizon is 5 bars and 5G here, we still used Starlink though. All sites are back in and can accomodate any size rig. There are no facilities on site so you need to have a rig with shower and toilet. One last thing, the gate to the track closes at 7pm and opens at 6:30am. They do provide you with an after hours number to call and security will come open the gate for you if you need to leave or return, and as a result we felt very safe. I would give this place a 3 star if I was just using it to explore the local area and a 5 star if I was using it for an event at the park, so settled on 4 stars as an overall score.
