For Dakota County Fairgrounds: Rate of $45 a night is insane, but there wasn’t much available. Sites are decently sized, not much in the way of amenities. If there is an event, you may be stuck with a loudspeaker to way late in the night. If I had known, I would have preferred the parking lot at the casino.

For Dakota County Fairgrounds: I had just purchased my 36’ class A in another state and needed a place to park after returning to the Twin Cities. I was very pleased to find this location and paid the monthly rate of $550. There are no reservations, so you just show up and pick a site. It’s typical pasture camping, and there are many possible locations to park. The only time it seemed to get really busy with lots of campers was when special events occurred, like the dog show that took place in one of the fair buildings while I was there. They operate with a camper/host situation, and that camper is situated next to the campground restroom/shower building. The camper/host will provide you with a pay envelope, which you fill out with the site # you’ve selected, and place in the pay box with your check within the first 48 hours of your stay. Some of the sites do not have water, some may be 30 amp only, and some may not have the electric turned on at all… so check them out before you park and get situated. There are no sewer hookups at sites but there is an adequate free dump station. Farmington is a nice location that has an adequate selection of fast food, groceries, and other amenities. If you want major store chains you may need to travel 10 miles or so to Apple Valley or the Burnsville mall area.
