For Island Bar Recreation Site: A quiet, apparently little used campground area. The site is reached by a short gravel access road leading downhill from the main paved road. This road has a sandy/muddy area at the bottom of the hill that could be difficult to climb when very wet. To reach the campsite, continue NW across about 1/4 mile of mostly smooth smaller boulders (the river bar) to a low mound or hill, and up to the mostly level, grassy hilltop. The sites are dispersed on the hilltop. There are a few trees which offer some shade here and there. There is no AT&T cell service, but very weak and sporadic Verizon service.
