For Hammer Creek Recreation Site: Unfortunately , this campground is no longer as the previous reviewer described. Several folks living in sites, no dogs on leash, garbage overflowing. Grass was dry and not mowed. Cars parked in riverside spots so no one else could camp there presumably, to monopolize river access for fishing. Just cars, didn’t pay, belonging to some of the full timers. Quite rude. No camp host in sight.

For Hammer Creek Recreation Site: 2 frost proof water faucets in the camp area with threaded hose fittings, day use area has no threaded fittings on faucets. Dump is free and dump station drain is surrounded by a concrete apron. Flush toilets water and dump for 10 a night. Very clean and upkept place. Jim and Francis take pride in keeping it nice and making sure the rules are followed. We are here now and will definitely come back. We have a 43 ft fifth wheel and hdt and no problem fitting

For Hammer Creek Recreation Site: June 2020: I’m writing an update to my review of 2019 to note changes to the potable freshwater system, which has been rebuilt and expanded. There is now potable freshwater available from several new freeze-proof, blue painted spigots with hose threads, at a few different locations in the Recreational Area. The one closest to the dump station is now about 50 feet away from the waste inlet, several feet off the loop road in the the loop’s central grassy area, near the campground toilets building. There’s no turnout on the campground loop road to drive off the travel lane to get water. So you may need a longer hose than usual to reach from the spigot to your RV on the road. There are a few more freshwater faucets/hydrants in the BLM’s nearby Day Use area, that can easily be used to get water for an RV. All are freeze proof hydrants painted blue, with hose threads. The easiest of these to park near to and fill from, without interfering with others’ use of the area, is next to the picnic tables closest to the entrance to the Recreation Area. Another is at the improved concrete boat ramp. A third is upstream from the improved ramp, on a short gravel road between the paved Day Use parking lot and the unimproved gravel boat ramp and raft launch/put in spot. The RV Dump Station is as described in my previous review, except that the gravel around the concrete apron has not been kept up. So it can be muddy next to the apron the waste inlet is set in. There is nonpotable rinse water available from a hose attached to a freeze-proof red painted hydrant in a concrete pedestal next to the waste inlet. The dump site is inside the campground FEE area, so not “free” to use. There is no specific posted exception to paying the campground nightly fee to use the dump station. There is the usual 50% discount on the nightly fee for Federal pass holders.

For Hammer Creek Recreation Site: Sept. 2019: Extremely well maintained campground and facilities. The road from the highway is very passable. The campground loop is on a level bench set back from the river. The sites are level and widely spaced. The toilets are clean. The RV dump is well designed and maintained. The waste inlet is set below surrounding ground in a concrete apron. Rinse water is provided. A separate spigot about 25 feet forward of the waste inlet is prominently signed as potable freshwater. Campground check-in is at a self-pay station at the loop entrance. There was only one camp site occupied when we arrived at approximately 6:00 PM. The day use parking area a short distance from the campground loop was full with truck/trailer rigs (support vehicles for the river rafting businesses).
