For BLM Ruby Creek Recreation Area: Don’t let the gravel road from the highway to the west side of the river discourage you. Once you turn left (south) onto the road along the west side of the river, the road is well paved all the way to the campground (and beyond). The rate was $12/night as of June 2019 (and there’s a 50% discount for Federal Pass holders). There are two loops, both very well-graded gravel. The sites each have a wide gravel parking area, a picnic table and a metal fire ring/grate. About half of the sites are actually just wide gravel spots on the loop road (serving as “pull throughs” but not separated from the road). These are long enough for most Class A’s or truck/5th wheel combinations, and also have tables and fire rings. There is a fresh (potable) water spigot in the center of the south loop, a few feet west of the vault toilet building (the water is apparently from a well also in the south loop). A long hose is required to reach from the spigot to an RV on the gravel loop road. There are only a few low trees and shrubs in the loops, so not much visual privacy between spaces, but the sites are not crowded together so there is an overall spacious feeling. The entire campground appeared clean and well cared for. There are no trash or garbage receptacles, which is a good thing, since (according to the camp host) bears frequent this area during the summer and would be attracted to any outside trash container. No AT&T cell signal. Verizon signal is weak but somewhat functional for voice, text and slow data.

For BLM Ruby Creek Recreation Area: Beautiful grassland campground right on the Madison River. Site was mown, sunny, with lovely views of mountains. Elk and antelope in the morning. Good water, no garbage service. Windy. Very lightlt used. Easy access. Good road in.
