For River Island State Park: Can’t say enough good things about this place. We stayed during the week in April, in a tent in #32. I never saw a camp host but several times a day the rangers came & cleaned & landscaped. We enjoyed clean showers at both shower areas & always clean bathrooms with soap. Accessible trash & even a large sink for cleaning dishes or large items. It was very clean, quiet, and beautiful! Kids enjoyed swimming every day, the water was so clear & nice & lots of birds & ducks & beautiful hiking trails connected right there. Gorgeous sunsets from the trails over the campground. Verizon cell coverage was spotty but I was still able to find areas around our site to make calls, share picts & even got online to reserve another night. We were not bothered by road noise at all but maybe if you had an RV spot right by the road, we were in a tent farther away & didn’t have any problems. There is an island out in the river so most boats & loud jet skis stayed on the other side in the deeper water so we didn’t experience any loud boat noise either. Our neighbors fished, kayaked. Not too far to check out London Bridge & tons of things to do around the area.

For River Island State Park: Typical RV park you find throughout the region. Basically a paved parking lot with nice medians between units and picnic tables. The park was clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly. There’s a small access and view of the Colorado River, but because every inch of the river in this area is developed the views are of other RV parks and developments across the river. But this park has a few downsides that make it difficult to recommend. Given the plethora of other parks and camping options I would opt for other locations. This park is close off a major road in a canyon that echos the sounds of semis, cars and motorcycles. the sound is relentless and loud all night long. The showers and bathrooms were clean and well maintained. but there’s no seats in the showers; only a single hook on the door. Water splashes everywhere so keeping your clean clothes dry is a challenge. the water temperature barely qualified as tepid so if you want a hot shower you will be disappointed. the wifi is so weak and slow it’s basically non-existent. even if you stand next to the building that has the router and transmitter the signal was weak. since the park is in a canyon there’s no cell service, or a weak sliver at best. so basically you’re in a complete dead zone during your stay. move on, there’s better places to stay for $30 per night.

For River Island State Park: I agree with the other positive reviews re: nice sites, clean bathrooms, lovely landscaping. No one mentioned the oppressive highway noise, which ruined it for me. Trucks and loud motorcycles roared through this canyon all night. And because it’s a canyon, the sound reverberates. Other than that. Great.

For River Island State Park: Stayed in a 38' 5th wheel for 3 nights here in a very spacious back in site. No waste for us but not needed. Dumped on the way out. No ammenities to speak of but a small beach to river and boat launch to go with it. Its all about the river here. Would come again when the nasty flies are less!

For River Island State Park: I would like to give this place five stars, but: you have to use their WIFI to get any signal for internet. Cannot text here with Verizon. It is in a bit of a hole, so no coverage to speak of. The WIFI worked well. Lots of big rigs, so pretty much anything can fit. Laid out like an RV park with lots of pull throughs. If you want privacy the lower numbered sites to the south (back ins) are the best. Beach is a hill down to the water with a little cove, good for kids to play without being right on the main line of the river. We came in February. The park was FULL all the time, with lots of folks using the overflow area for over night stays. For $30 it was nice. But not a lot to do when it is cold outside. Pretty, lovely Vermillion Flycatchers and humming birds all around. Nice dog park. Close to Parker, and Lake Havasu is about 20 miles north. Not sure I will come again, unless we are in warmer weather and have access to a ski boat! Pretty, though. Staff was nice, they have a little shop at the registration area.

BigMo

For River Island State Park: This park looked like it had been newly revamped. The bathrooms were new, the lots were widely spaced and long. However, only the camp hosts had full hookups. This park is very popular with the “toy” crowd. It filled up on the weekend and so did the overflow area. We did a couple of hikes by carefully crossing the highway. We stayed in a32 ft Class A with a toad
