For Robert E. Talbot Conservation Area: Drove out to preview the five campground sites and evaluate the fishing ponds. Discovered all five of the camp sites were occupied. One did not have any humans, but did have a 10x20 portable garage shelter erected on the site with old billboard tarps completely enclosing it. Two of the campsites appeared to have extended stay trailers parked on them. One actually appeared to have underpinning and four separate vehicles parked by it. I only observed one live person and they were sitting in a pickup with a large box built onto the back of it. The last site was filled with unoccupied cars and appeared to be a used as a parking area. The fishing ponds had great access roads and parking was plentiful. Maintenance of the area was great. But I was not comfortable with what appeared to be "extended stay" campers and will look for another camp site.

For Robert E. Talbot Conservation Area: Besides the occasional (2 lane) road-noise, this stop is well worth the 5 or so miles off the interstate. 5 spots, clean, nice view, shade, 4G Verizon. We were all alone and enjoyed it over night.

For Robert E. Talbot Conservation Area: Very nice place to pull off road for the night. It is right on historic Route 66 which we were traveling along. It's basically just a big field and our travel trailer fit fine. Good TV reception and mediocre cell service.
