For Possum Bend - Jubilee College State Park: An overlooked jewel that needs a bit of polish. This State of Illinois park is very nice and an easy 4 miles off I 74. We were tired campers on a Sunday evening, without a plan and took a chance swinging by, after having gone on-line to try and make a reservation. The on-line reservation indicated nothing available, hmmm, on Sunday night? Just saying, per my son-in-law, the web designer, states always take the lowest bid for recreational website designs and it shows....don't you hate having to set up and account just to make an overnight reservation. The on-line site indicated there was nothing available. Imagine our amazement, surprise, head shaking frustration to find a lovely park about 10-15 % full. Large open sites with lots of space. Electric only, water and dump at entrance. I can not commit on the bath/toilet/shower facilities as we are self contained as was everyone there. The website is designed to not allow you to make reservation with less than three days notice, and will show nothing available because all sites are essentially first come first serve, e.g. "walk-in.". What can we say, poor Illinois, broke and can't save itself by even figuring out how to generate simple revenue. The camp host were helpful, took our twenty dollars, wrote a receipt and we enjoyed a pleasant stay. Would stop again in a heartbeat. Adequate Verizon

For Possum Bend - Jubilee College State Park: I agree with the previous reviewer. Pretty park, badly needing maintenance. The shower house sinks and floor were clean. The shower walls were covered in soap scum and some mold. The shower stalls had no shower curtain or seat to get dressed. Had to use the bench in front of the toilets. Sites sloped and in need of gravel. Hosts were great, and kept the area mowed.

For Possum Bend - Jubilee College State Park: Another Illinois park with a lot of potential that the state does not take care of. Super camp hosts!!! As noted on other rv sites, there is a prevalence of poison ivy at a lot of the sites. Campers beware. Pretty park with a lot of shaded sites and for those of you with solar, sunny sites available. Only one shower house that i saw with badly iron water stained features, but clean.(Needs a couple of bottles of CLR!). Not too many sites are level unfortunately and they all could use more gravel. Even with the negatives I would stay here again if passing through.

Camper

For Possum Bend - Jubilee College State Park: 2 stars because this is a pretty and quiet park. The campground hosts were friendly and helpful. Our site was lovely and shaded; however, many are not shaded.

The bath facilities were disgustingly filthy. The haven't had a proper cleaning in a long time. Bugs and spider webs coated everything (walls, counters, toilets, counters, etc.), the floor could have used a good mopping. The showe stalls were coated with soap scum and had hooks broken and missing with no shelf to set your stuff (if you dared). The outhouse was just as bad with crud (you know what I mean) streaking the outside edge of the pedestal along with the littering of bugs and dirt on the floor and walls.

The camper sites were grassy and could have used some levelling and gravels as the ground was soft from the recent rains and could be problematic for heavy campers.

Would we come back? No unless we heard that the facilities had been upgraded and were better maintained.
