For Washburn Primitive - Hearst San Simeon State Park: Nice hilltop campground with adequate but not much shade. Cool ocean breezes & sea fog keep you cool. Nicely kept park. Clean pit toilets & good water. We had plenty of sunshine to keep powered up with our solar panel. Lots of nice hiking trails but most of them don’t allow dogs unfortunately. 2 miles from gas & groceries in Cambria. 5 miles from Hearst Castle.

For Washburn Primitive - Hearst San Simeon State Park: We stayed here Memorial Day weekend, it was a full campground. We had reservations for site 202, but we arrived early and they ended up assigning us to site 238. The site itself was nicely located with access to one of the trails. We had a nice view of the ocean, the angle of the site made it feel very private considering how many people were around. The sites all have picnic tables and nice big fire rings. You can purchase a wheelbarrow of wood for $10 from the camp host which is very convenient, just take note that it is only offered during certain hours (I think it was 3p-6:30p). The downside of this campground is that they do not seem to enforce the quiet hours. We were unfortunately right next to a large group who were very loud and spent all night by the fire singing very loudly with a guitar and drums - they could still be heard close to midnight. The location of the campground is conveniently close to Hearst castle and an easy drive out to Paso Robles wine country. We would consider staying again, perhaps not a busy holiday weekend. It was nice that the dump station had 2 spots to help with the crowds at checkout.

For Washburn Primitive - Hearst San Simeon State Park: Nice view from the hilltop camp sites . 30 amp and water hookup. The roads around the campsite are terrible ruts so deep your motor home rolls from side to side . Ask why they did not grate the road , the park said to keep you going slow. That's " BULL" there just to lazy to do there job. A few speed bumps or in there case speed ruts is one thing. But this was ridiculous!!! Did in joy Hearst Castle , Cambria

For Washburn Primitive - Hearst San Simeon State Park: Went during spring break. Beautiful. Not a lot of shade trees but still very green and nice.
