For Rampart Range Road: This is a fee area - not free BLM dispersed camping. Rangers patrol and monitor compliance.

For Rampart Range Road: Picked this area for an impromptu Rv camping get away. We wanted to be close to the metro denver area, but needed a quick little escape. Very popular with dirt biking/ATV users, I can imaging it gets a little loud during the weekends. We visited early in the week and it was very peaceful. Cell signal was variable but we could at least text our family back home. Usually we tow a trailer, which would have been tricky for many of the sites...but with just our 24ft Class C...no problem finding a suitable spot to stay. Prefer the sites on the east side of the road-a little further from the trail bike action. First come-first serve, dispersed camping at organized sites. Fire pits but a current fire ban meant no evening campfire.

For Rampart Range Road: My dog and I stayed up here for the entire summer in 2016, IN A TENT! This was his last adventure with me because he passed away the following spring from old age. We had the time of our lives and I'm glad I got to do it with him. I'm a Veteran and was participating in a summer program there in Denver so this really helped me financially to stay here because I didn't know anyone from there. I'm giving this place 4 stars based on the type of camping it is. There is no running water up there and the facilities are far enough to have to drive to but I'm glad they are there. The entire road is 90% washboard and it would be nice if the bike trails were a bit down the mountain from the sites but I found the whole experience overall life-changing. The views, the pines, the scents, the animals, the serenity, the arid breeze. I drove up there last year and it just wasn't the same without my Simon. :(

For Rampart Range Road: Spent one night here and probably will not return. The unpaved portion of Rampart range road is very rough and bumpy, I had to stop when my gray water pipe became dislodged and started dragging on the ground (even as I was going a careful 5-10 mph). I came here on a weekend so I should have expected it to be crowded, but pretty much all the easily accessible sites were already occupied and I had to share a loop with another RV. Beautiful location, but logistically too much trouble for me.

For Rampart Range Road: What a disappointment. There were noisy motorized dirt bikes and ATVs everywhere. The path for them came basically right through our site. People would fly by on the 40 mile dirt road and we were continually in thick clouds of dust. Campsite was full of litter -- even diapers -- which we cleaned up. We planned to stay a few days and left after 1 for the peace and quiet of a Walmart parking lot. Now that's sad!
