Free camping on a very nice beach. We camped 2 nights in early March in a 28 ft. Class C motorhome. The sand is easy to drive on, there’s lots of space, and the beach was pretty clean with nice sand. We turned in on the road to Surfside Beach and there is a sign at the beach stating the fee for day use. We turned left by the sign (north) and went a short distance before seeing the sign for the start of the free beach. There are other access roads north of the road to Surfside Beach.

Very nice stretch on the beach 14 miles with compacted sand pass the height tide line where you can camp along the dunes for free. They have trash cans and scattered potty toilet , which we didn’t use, we arrived on a Sunday and there was a lot of people on the beach and cruising around the compacted area but after sunset everyone went away and a very few camper stayed to have all beach for ourselves . The only turn off mosquitoes , a lot of them , so do bath yourselves , LOL , in a mosquito repellent spray. We were in a 36’ Class A towing a toad . No issues. Bigger rigs can camp here as well.

Stay here on the beach for free or pay $60. for a tight RV spot down the street with no view from your RV. A no brainer! Enjoyed one night here. Practically had the beach to myself in December. Would definitely return.

Undeveloped sea shore where you can park right on the beach for free. Here in early December, temps in 60s and 70s, and beach is nearly empty. I’m from Texas and read in a Texas group to enter at 3 or 4 so I did not go all the way West to entrance 1. I made an amateur mistake of trying to back my Airstream Interstate up in soft sand along the berm and got stuck. A very nice local pulled me out for free, but I did give him $100 (his wife and little kids were in his jeep with him).

Here during the hottest time of the year. Nice breeze. Beach is cleanish. Some litter as usual. But the water was clean. Not too crowded. We were able to drive our motor home right onto the beach and dry camp. Would return again.
