For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: Huge sites with amazing separation. Great if you want privacy. Clean bathrooms recycling. They have WI-FI but it never worked for me. Access to trails and carriage paths from campground. Visitor Center on-site great.

For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: It is our opinion that this is the LAZIEST group of FEMALE park employees we have EVER had to deal with. Each time we have presented to check on campsite availability, the response is always a very unenthusiastic and totally uninterested one...”Uh, no. Not at this time.” ...without checking cancelled bookings which we feel certain there were each time we’ve been here. The park ALWAYS appears to be at least 30% empty.

For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: Beautiful park. Sites spaced with lots of room between. Very clean bathrooms but NO showers. Much quieter here than the bar harbor side of Acadia.

For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: Awesome, awesome! Brand new RV Park in the National Park. Private, wooded large sites. Water and electric only. Plus nice tent area and walk-in sites. Gravel and mostly level. Fire pit but have to buy wood outside the park. Nice bathrooms but no showers. Outdoor sink for dish washing. Hiking and biking trails well maintained. FREE shuttle for the park and surrounding area. Ferry nearby. Loved this park!

For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: I was going to give this campground a perfect rating until I realized that they didn't have showers. We survived because we have a small one, which I prefer not to use, but I feel sorry for tent campers. It doesn't have views either, but otherwise it's pretty much perfect. It's quiet, clean, etc. It supplies comfortable camping without the raucous playgrounds, pools, and other amenities that have little or nothing to do with camping. A standard setter for every other campground. Incredible views of the water are only a few minutes hike or ride (on the free shuttles, by car, or by bike) away and nearby hiking trails are as good as they come. Be sure to bring your bikes because you can ride everywhere from the campground. RV's that will not fit in a normal parking spot are not permitted past the campground, so you need to shuttle or ride a bike. We would camp a lot more if all campgrounds were like this one . . . with showers. Hat's off to the NPS on this jewel.

For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: This is a brand-new campground that is over in the Schoodic Peninsula area. It is not over near Bar Harbor. However that makes it nice and quiet. The biggest thing you need to know is there are No showers. This place is made for RVs. They assume you have a shower in your RV. I don't think any of the national park campgrounds in this area have showers. And I think this is the only campground with electricity. Their paper said you can pay for showers at different places around town.
They do have nice bathrooms with dumpsters there. They also have a sink on the outside to wash your kitchen dishes. The hook ups are electricity and water only with a dump station in the park.

The spots here are huge. Really made for big rigs. Our spot could hold a 60 foot rig. Our spot did have a little slope to it. But most of the sites are pretty flat. The park has lots of hiking and biking trails running throughout.

They also have free firewood on a first come first serve basis. It is at the end of Loop A. We were in Loop B and it was mostly pull through sites. They also have an amphitheater where they have programs in the evenings. We spent the evenings driving out to Schoodic Point to watch the sun go down and the waves crash in on the rocks. It's beautiful! It's much darker over here at night so the stars are bright and the Milky Way clear. There is a good restaurant nearby called The Pickled Wrinkle and a small grocery store in Winter Harbor.

They have a free shuttle bus that takes you around Schoodic Peninsula. You can get a ferry over to the Bar Harbor area. I think it is $15 round-trip. However we did not use it. We drove around and it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to an hour and a half to get to the Bar Harbor area. Once you were over in the Bar Harbor area you can park at the Acadia National Park Visitor Center and use their shuttle bus system. They have all kinds of routes that take you to different areas. And it is free. We chose to drive our own car since it wasn't too crowded in late September but the parking lots were pretty full even this time of the year.

Chester

For Schoodic Woods Campground - Acadia National Park: 1 year old as of 9/16! Designed and laid out for RVs built today. B loop for anything longer than 20 feet. 50/30/20 amp and water at most sites in B loop. Staff at park is very friendly and helpful.

This campground is remote if you are looking for city stuff. Also 1.5 hours from Bar Harbor (Acadia).
