For Lost Maples RV and Camping: I returned to this place two years later and it's much improved. The new shower/bath house is great and the campsites are looking and feeling a lot better than before.

For Lost Maples RV and Camping: I tent-camped here for one night while out on a solo bike tour of the Hill Country. The tent sites have electricity but if you'd like to make use of the water you have to bring your own hose with a valve. There's only ONE bathroom, which is attached to the general store. The bathroom sink wasn't even big enough for me to fill up my water bottle. There are no showers. The tent camping sites are small and close together so you can constantly hear your neighbors and the ground is rocky and coarse. There's no tree cover, which was fine in winter but would be brutal in Texas's hot seasons. My site, like most of the sites in this park, didn't have a table so I sat on the ground to prepare food. The tent sites are pretty close to the main road so you hear cars come and go. The price for my one-night camping stay was $20. The staff were friendly. There's a food truck parked next to the general store that serves burgers and hot dogs. This campground seems fairly new and it's clear that the owners are making many big changes like levelling the hillside to add additional sites and many new cabin rentals so I expect this place to improve in the years to come. But if I return to Vanderpool I will try to get a site at the State Park instead of staying here again.
