For Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park: Like staying in a five star hotel! Bathrooms and showers gleam, has great WiFi, trails and roads to ride or walk, private shaded campsites. Booked an extra night, even in the rain because we enjoyed it so much.

For Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park: This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the state. The sites are well spaced, heavily wooded and all electric. The ground cover has had about 5 years of growth since the park opened giving the sites a lot of privacy. There is also strong cell signal and full Wi-Fi throughout the campground. The restroom / shower building is clean and beautifully constructed. All the roads in the park are paved but the campsites are gravel though level and should accommodate any length of RV. Paved bike trails run past the park but you better have an e-bike or strong legs as there will be many hills to climb. The camper cabins are the best I’ve ever seen and in an area by themselves with their own shower building. There are just a few things that could be better. The hiking trails are pretty easy but there could be more. Make sure to hike out to the point especially late in the day for a great view. The one thing that we couldn’t figure out is why the campground was placed so far from the lake. Lake Vermilion is one of the most beautiful lakes in Minnesota and the views are very limited. Even the hiking trails that follow the shoreline give you only glimpses of the water. You can walk or drive to the boat landing or better yet the picnic area for some views. If you bring a boat you will have to launch it and pull it out every day as many campers did. Boating and fishing is tremendous on this 40,000 acre lake. I give it 5 stars just for the campsites alone. Now if I could pull my boat behind my travel trailer………

For Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park: Yes, the sites are beautiful and well-spaced as others have noted. But there were two major flaws for us. First of all, the only place to dump trash is in the dump station area. This is quite a hike from many of the campsites. We like to dump our garbage each night which required a drive to the dump station. There were also no trash receptacles at the day use area -a beautiful picnic area, boat dock, and fishing pier. We were also very disappointed in the lack of walking/hiking trails. There were a couple on the map but totally unmarked. We did find one, but had to turn back when it seemed to end with no signs at all. On the plus side, the Underground Mine tour in Soudan was wonderful.

For Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park: There are 30+ sites each nicely separate from its neighbors. Ours was spot-on level and good and wide/deep. Beautiful trees. The bathrooms must have been very recently built. The one I saw was cleaner and nicer than any I've seen anywhere!?

For Lake Vermilion-Soudan Underground Mine State Park: There are now somewhere around 100 sites for RV’s and tents. Most of the camping sites look like they were built in the last year or so. It appears all sites are isolated from neighboring sites by at least 100 ft so you have a sense of privacy. There must have been some violent storms recently as there’s some blowdown trees that have opened up some of the privacy barriers, but not so you feel your neighbor is in your site. Very nice campground.
