For U P State Fairgrounds: 2 nights in north campground W/E & dump station mostly 30 amp but found a 50 amp along east fence line. Main fairgrounds have many 30/50 amp available. 30$/night self pay envelopes no reservations. Restroom Ok 4 stall no showers building 7, Very nice quiet stay no major events but did have horse, dog shows and some midget car race going on was fun to view. Hint…Call to verify no major events are booked. Great walking, bike and sandy dog friendly beach on south shore drive. 45’ MH with tow. Would definitely stay again

AKONE

For U P State Fairgrounds: Access: Good. Pave interior roads. Sites: Pull-throughs & back-ins. Level grass. Spacing wide open. Some shade trees. The designated campground area is water and electric only. Staff: Self check-in. Grounds: Well kept, clean. Easy dump station access. Electrical: 30/50 amp. No issues Noise Level: Low. No trains. Cell Service AT&T: 3 bars. Wifi: None Price: $25 per night - no advance reservations. Notes: We travel in a 40' Motorhome. Opinion: State or County fairground RV parks typically offer basic services and may not be available due to events. Some are well kept with lots of trees and grass, and like RV parks, some are in poor shape. We intentionally look for fairgrounds. They often are a good value and have very few other RVs. UP State Fairgrounds was a good example. 30 acres of all grass RV sites with only two other RVs. Quiet, plenty of privacy, room to spread-out (if you want), good shade and perfect for the dog. Wal-Mart walking distance. A great place to rest and recharge for a couple of days before hitting the road again.

Don Gagnon

For U P State Fairgrounds: This is a no frills operation. There is a rest room available (summers), but no showers, no pool, no office, no extra's at all, just a place to park and hookups, but you can't beat the price: $20/night. You basically drive around, find a spot you like (there are some trees), then fill out the envelope you got at the gate, put in your money and drop it in the box. No reservations. Some full hookups, many with W/E and many with just E.
