For Whispering Winds Campground: We stayed here for a week. I would guess that 80% of the sites were seasonal stays. It seemed that seasonal site renters maintain their own grass and most were set up and decorated really nice. The sites that were for short term stays were not well kept. The grass was really long and pretty much most of the rock that was at one time the pad you would drive on was gone. It rained a bit while we were there and the site was muddy and a real mess. The roads were some of the worse we had driven on in a campground. They had a front end loader and tractor onsite as it looked like they are expanding but I guess they don't care about using the equipment for maintaince. When we got there to check in the owners were out on a errand so we never met them on check in and they had us proceed to our site. During our stay, another camper was parked next to us and was pulled over so thier camper was almost on top of the fire ring. When we got to our site the person who was there said the owner backed them in that way so they could use thier fire ring better and said if we want to use our fire pit we would need to pull it out of the ground and move it. We stayed over 4th of July and on 3rd of July about 9:30 PM we noticed that someone was putting on a large fire works display. The day before we left we decided to go for a walk up near the office to check out the pool about 8PM that night. We were met by one of the owners or managers and she asked if we need any help. I told her we were looking for the pool, she then in a snippy tone said the pool closes at 7:30. We went to the pool to look and met the other owner or manager. We asked him who was doing the fireworks show and he said they do them every year. It sure would be nice if they let people know of activities onsite. This place could easily be a 5 star campround with some maintance on the roads, clean up and maintance on the sites, fix the gravel on the pads, use the event calander on the website or notify people of events, and be a little more freindy. I would not stay there again.

For Whispering Winds Campground: We stayed at Whispering Winds RV park from July 1 to August 1 in a 40’ motorhome. We did not use the pool or washrooms but did have the excellent fish fry a couple of times from the on site restaurant and bar. What was good: the 88 acres had lots of walking trails with ponds, wildlife and remnants of the original golf course; our site was very large and overlooked a pond with ducks and geese; only ~1/2 mile to the Erie Canal tow path for biking and hiking; easy walking into the village of Newark with numerous charming old homes and churches; rough roads kept speeding down and also the dust. What was not so good: the very rough gravel roads. We would stay another time.

Ferret

For Whispering Winds Campground: Large grassy sites. Quite a few trees. Mostly seasonal sites in the older upper area. They are expanding the campground but there are few trees in the newer section.
