For RV Area - Colt Creek State Park: Lovely quiet state park. While there’s no store, we did see a sign that firewood and ice are available for sale at the ranger station. Paved roads and nice gravel level sites. Only 27 RV sites, 25 of which are available on the web site to book. This park is extremely quiet. Only a few people were outside after dark. The rangers with whom we spoke said its always this quiet. Vegetation is pine flatwoods (tall thin pines and palmettos - good snake habitat so just keep that in mind when walking trails). There is a pond for kayaking but it is home to gators so we kept our little dog far away from any water features. We chose not to kayak. Great hiking and biking. Nice star gazing. For sites, I feel like the best ones are 3-11 because they have some shade late afternoon. Site 24 is a really nice site due to afternoon shade from the center area of pines. Sites 23-26 had zero shade until the sun set. The western sun is blazing hot. Its January and the sun seemed to set over sites 9,11 for context. Sites 7 and 8 got some residual light from the nearby bathrooms. Bathrooms were nice and pretty clean. 3 toilet stalls and 2 showers, one of which is handicap accessible with handlebars and a shower head with a hose. Electric and water at the sites with 2 dump stations on the way out. We would stay again in the winter.

For RV Area - Colt Creek State Park: For a state park, this is one of the easiest accessed for big rigs. Sites are spacious and level, and plenty of space between. Paved roads, and gravel sites, which are well kept. I believe this is Florida’s newest state park campground and you can tell by the facilities - washer and dryer are still working! It’s a small campground with some tent sites, so having only two shower stalls did not seem to be a problem. Lovely park through wild pinelands and hardwood hammocks, and three lakes originally made from limestone mining. Paved road through park is great for bike riding. Lots of hiking & horse trails, and kayak rentals and boat launch site on the largest lake. A great place just to get away. You won’t have shade, but you will enjoy the quiet while watching the sunset.

For RV Area - Colt Creek State Park: New RV campground, well drained, sites level, paved or gravel, tall trees provide little shade yet. Spanking new, spotless bathhouse, laundry. Trails were muddy, flooded while we were here, but would be great for hiking. An equestrian campground is nearby. Day use area by the lake.

For RV Area - Colt Creek State Park: The park is Beautiful! Trails wildlife lakes it has everything! The Campground is the best we have stayed at. They put a lot of time and thought into this park! The sites are huge, we have a 35 foot fifth wheel and a big truck, there was enough to park another truck at the end of our site! The rangers are quick to clean the sites when someone leaves so it’s perfect for the next camper. The bathrooms are clean and really nice. I definitely recommend this place but because it’s so new I’ll add good luck getting in it’s booked solid for awhile!

For RV Area - Colt Creek State Park: This is a new campground and a relatively new State Park. Our check in went smoothly, even though the staff is still getting used to the system and our site had been reserved the day before, but the person never checked in/out. Caused a little confusion, but they figured it out and we made our way to our site. The drive to the campground is a bit long, but is mostly paved, only the very last bit is hard packed dirt. The campground road is not paved, but the sites are all gravel with a patio area to the side that has a picnic table, fire pit and charcoal grill.

We had no trouble backing into our site and more than enough room for our 39' fifth wheel and truck. Our site was level and we had no problems with the hookups. Not all sites are as spacious, but in general the sites are roomy. There is ample space between sites, you don't feel crowded at all, but the lack of trees makes for little to no privacy or shade. There are a couple of pull throughs on the inside of the loop that would feel more private, the one our friend was in on the outside of the loop had the living area facing the road.

We didn't use the bath house, but our friend did and said they were spotless, which I would expect considering how new everything is.

The park itself is large with a lot of hiking opportunities, equestrian trails and a lake for kayaking or fishing. We really appreciated how quiet it was at night and I've heard the star gazing is nice, but we had cloudy weather our two nights there.

My only real complaint was the dust, we were near the main road and people don't seem to obey the speed limit, even some people driving in the campground loop went a little too fast. We didn't have much trouble since our RV blocked the dust from the main road and our living space was removed from the campground road, but our RV was quite dusty when we left. I've been told that paving the road and campground loop are in the plans, but I also know that Florida state parks are still recovering from hurricane damage, so it might be a while for them to get the money. The dust certainly wouldn't keep me from returning, the good far outweighs the dust!

While we were there the campground host drove around offering firewood and ice, which was nice, we didn't have to drive up to the gate for our wood.

Our AT&T phones would work outside, but not very well in the RV. We used our Verizon Mifi, with a booster, and that worked just fine.

We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning.

For RV Area - Colt Creek State Park: Very quite place. Sites are large enough for any size. It's dusty but remember it's a state park campground, not a resort. We love to hike with the dogs, tons of it here. Beautiful areas. Not sure if they had maps.
Couple of lakes if fishing is a hobby.
No traffic noise!!!
