For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: NOT big rig friendly . 3 miles of gravel road to get there. Upper bass are NOT level. Blew out a leveler trying to level up. Beware!

For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: NOT MOTORCYCLE FRIENDLY. Apparently there are 700 miles of gravel road in Madison county , and you will drive down 5-6 miles of it to get to this campground. All gravel lots, very steep campground roads. Not good for big rigs. The upper lots are extremely tight together and the power boxes are not properly placed there. Took one out pulling out of my spot just from the swing of the trailer. The power box is placed on the drivers side to the FRONT of the lot, very poor placement. I of course am being asked to foot the bill. My rig should have never been placed there. I got in no problem , leaving was a different story. The young guys managing the camp were pleasant.

Sarah

For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: The owner was VERY kind and hospitable. We had an electrical issue with our RV and he was very patient with me calling several times. We didn't get to see much of the campground but the pictures of what we didn't see look nice. The reason I'm only giving it 3 stars is we stayed in the main full hookup area and the sites were very unlevel and very tiny. Our neighbors sewer hose was 2 ft from our picnic table. Just know that going in. The picnic tables were nice and clean.

For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: The Good: Once you arrive & get past the office the small campground is a pretty little area—green with trees. Fine for tents and small campers that are self contained. The guy helping out the absent owner was polite and very helpful, guiding us down in his 4-wheeler to look at the campsite. He mentioned that they are building more campsites that will feature pull-thru and full hook-ups. The Bad: Difficult to contact for reservations. This should have been a red flag. We had to take our freshly cleaned motorhome and car up and down over a lot of dirt and gravel roads before ending up in a campground oddly very close to Hwy 80. The office smells heavily of smoke. The long private dirt road to the campground is one vehicle wide. There are only three 50 Amp sites that are back-ins which would presumably fit our 36’ motorhome with opposing slides. Unfortunately, the site we were offered was not level, is bordered with trees and drops off on the side. Fine for a smaller rig but not ok for ours. The water is a garden hose across the street from the site. There is no sewer and the dump is in front of the office, on a curve at the top of the hill that goes down to the campsites. If we had understood what we were getting into we would not have booked. Hopefully, the new campsites being built will be more appropriate for big rigs. We left to camp at the very nice, nearby KOA that has polite hosts, full amenities and can be reached on paved roads.

For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: The owners, are wonderful. They made everything so nice that relaxation was very easy. Such a nice place with level sites and winding roads amongst the trees. Adventures along the creek or on the trails were easy to find. Next time we’ll make time to stay a lot longer! Thank you Dave & Brenda!

Martin

For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: We have only the very best to say about our stay at Shady Brook. We left our stay absolutely glowing and will return next time we pass through the area. From the friendly check-in, delivered ice and firewood, and well-groomed grounds, it was clear that we were not viewed just as customers, but as welcomed guests. It’s a small campground, with a nice playground in the middle. Easy access to water hoses nearby to sites. We’re fairly new RV-ers, and as fate would have it, we had a couple technical issues at set-up. The camp owners went above and beyond to do what they could to help us figure out how to get things working. We enjoyed the above ground pool after the long warm travel day! They are adding to the campground - more campsites, bathrooms/showers, and an in ground pool. Great stay!

For Shady Brook Camping & RV Adventures: Nice little spot. Stayed one night while headed to Colorado. Dave and Jerry were friendly and helpful. Bathrooms were spotless. Nice little walking trail to stretch our legs a bit. Some road noise but that’s to be expected. Will definitely stay again.
