Subject: Old Talbot Inn - Bardstown, KY

My husband and I are paranormal investigators, and we stayed 2 nights there in 2000.  There is definitely paranormal activity there.  My husband, along with a friend of ours who lives in Bardstown, had an encounter with an angry entity in the upstairs bathroom, each at a different time.  We also captured many orbs and an awesome "mist" on film.

Subject: Haunted Holiday Inn, Totowa/Clifton, NJ

Their restaurant and the room we stayed in are both haunted. The restaurant is made up to look like some kind of horror show with animated monsters, a corpse in an electric chair, stacks of skulls, and the front end of a car sticking through a wall. But the scariness is not all fake .

When we passed by it after it had closed, my sister and I both had a feeling of a man's spirit in there. A hotel employee added some back-up to this when he told us that a man had died of a heart attack on the dance floor when an animatronic mummy had come unexpectedly out of its upright sarcophagus at him.

Also haunted is the room we stayed in - I think it was 206. After we went to bed, I saw the curtains move as though someone was pushing past them, and both of us heard knocking and scratching on the headboards of our beds. I eventually managed to go to sleep (we lived for nearly ten years in a haunted house); but my sister was awake long enough to see my camera rise slowly into the air from the table between our two beds, and then descend again. She said that after that point, she pulled the covers over her head!

Did the restaurant ghost follow us to our room? Who knows? In any case, it was NOT the world's most restful night...

Subject: Stanley Hotel

I do have a lot of stories that I heard and expierianced at the Staney Hotel. In the bell tower there is a kid waving to everyone, i asked if i could go up there and the guy said "nobody can be up there its locked."   Also me and two friends were standing in he old bar right next to the billard room and we heard a stomp. Some of my friends took pictures of the bar and it looked like Mr Stanley standing right next to the bar in the picture. Also my friend took a picture of the room 217 and in the picture there was a red foggy thing that looked liike a lady sitting in the chair. Another trippy picture was a picture of the 4th floor, my friend took a picture of the hallway and in the picture there was a bright light even if there weren't any windows. In the music room we put our hands over the piano keys and all of a sudden we felt a cold breeze.

Subject: new addition

I am aemployee at a bed and breakfast, which is in fact the oldest inn in Florida (The Florida House Inn), set up by the railroad in 1857. We have two friendly resident ghosts, and when I saw your list, I thought we would be a perfect addition. One is a tall, morose man, who, the story goes, walks the hallways searching for his young beloved wife who died in childbirth here at the inn. He has been seen all over the inn, but seems to prefer one room in particular, in the oldest part of the building. One guest reported she had a two hour talk with him one night, and that he is nice enough, just really depressed. The other I don't know too much about, but, again, the stories say that she is the ghost of a murdered madam. We are on on the Haunted Amelia tour

Subject: Buxton Inn....Granville Ohio

I have a story to tell you. a few years back my best friend and er parents took me on a trip to the Buxton Inn we had heard it was haunted so we decided to check it out....at the time i lived in Cincinnati ( now live in Texas). we brought a video camera with us to record during the night. we had several experiences while there. during the day before dinner we all had decided to  take a nap. her parents were in one part of the room and we were in the other. The room we were in was kind of like a suite because you walked in and there was on bedroom and you walk through another dorrway which led you to the bathroom and another smaller bedroom. ( the back door to outseide was also in the smaller room. My friend and I were in the back smaller bedroom. While three of us slept my friend's mother could not sleep. The reason for her lack of sleep was that she kept smelling a strong aroma of smoke as if someone was smoking ...none of us smoke. she checked out the back door...no one was smoking. she checked out the front door...still no one. she went a couple doors down to the main entrance and check in lobby....no one there smoking either. WE later found that the room we stayed in was the smoking room back in the days of the original owners.  in the smaller bedroom there were also some owl statues on the dresser. everytime we entered the back part of our rooms those birds were turned a different direction. as we went to sleep that night we did everything to set up the camera. we then went to sleep. somtime in the early morning hours i woke up to see a shadowy figure, appearing to be male...standing at the foot of the bed. i sat up and could not take my eyes off of him. my friend woke up and asked me what i was doing i told her and we promptly hid under our covers until daylight. she later told me that all night long she could hear people stomping up the staircases outside and pacing the walkways outside . as you already know Granville is quite a small town and i doubt the hotel guests would be out all night in granville because there is nothing in granville to keep them out so late. when we checked our camera all we got was a blue screen....not fuzzy stuff but blue screen as if we had never set it to record...which we had.

Subject: Our first stay in room #16 at 1917 Hotel Vendome, Prescott Arizona

Well this was our first paranormal investigation. We are limited to equipment, we brought along a camera and a digital recorder. We decided to stay at Hotel Vendome in Prescott Arizona. We stayed in Abby's room, #16. As we entered the hotel lobby at about 4:15PM I immediately became disoriented and off balance. The feeling lasted for about 2 minutes and made it difficult or strange walking up the narrow flight of stairs to our room. We entered our room and it was very nice. It had early 1900 period wallpaper and woodwork. There was that old wood smell that accompanies buildings such as this. The rooms were beautiful with homeade quilts, clawfoot tubs and pull-chain toilets. As we put our belongings away we had what I believe was our first encounter. My wife was placing things in the closet and a huge drop of moisture hit her arm. She came out of the closet and showed it to me and it was still wet enough for her to wipe some off on me. I went to check out the closet and there was no moisture or source for the droplet. We sat in the room for a while and just took in our surroundings. At about 5:20 we experience a draft and the odor of sweet powder or perfume. It came and went a few times, you would smell it and then it would quickly fade away and then come back again. That lasted for about twenty minutes. We began taking pictures at about 6:00PM and they were quick random pictures, some I took over my shoulder or spontaneously to catch them off guard. I believe we achieved some pretty good shots. Something woke my wife at about 2:45AM and she had trouble going back to sleep.  At about 6:30AM I had just awakened and was laying there half asleep when something pushed down on the pillow I was holding on my chest. That was strange and a bit scary.  During the entire stay we felt the presence of something. We took more photo's of our room and other rooms the following morning as we were leaving. They had opened a few rooms for us. The owners were very kind and informative. We will be returning there agian as soon as I buy an EMF and a digital video camera with night time capabilities. The digital recorder picked up some unidentified tapping and the sound of something sqeaking on glass for about 3 minutes. It sounded the way it would sound if you repeatedly ran your hand fast across clean glass. It wasn't very clear though. Thanks for the time.

Subject: Martha Washington Inn

I'd like to suggest an addition to your haunted hotels list.  in Abingdon, Virginia, is the Martha Washington Inn.  it's a very old building that served as a school for nurses during the Civil War.  it has at least two ghost stories, dating from the war, attached to it.  first, an injured soldier bled to death at the top of a flight of stairs, and the resulting bloodstain is still there.  no matter what is done to the floor, no matter how many times the staff cleans it, the bloodstain comes back.  the second story is about a young nurse, named Beth, who fell in love with an injured Union soldier who was brought to the school.  the young man eventually died there, with Beth at his side.  supposedly, Beth now haunts the hotel.  the entire story is detailed in the book The Mystery of Ghostly Vera, a collection of stories from Southwest Virginia, by Charles Edwin Price.  he tells it much better than i can.  :)  i think there's also a story about a headless horseman on the grounds, as well, but i'm not sure of the details on that one.

Subject: Haunted Guest House In Barbados

Two years ago, my man and I went to Bathsheba, on the east coast of Barbados, and stayed at the Round House guesthouse for a week.  The house was built in 1832, so naturally, it has plenty of "history."

Midweek, we found out that the bar there is haunted by the ghost of a woman who was murdered in that section of the guesthouse.  Apparently, she visits in the middle of the night, and she does the "typical" ghost things, like move things around, makes noises, etc.

I would normally have run in terror....but I paid for the room, and I just said, "Hey, I paid for this, and we're staying.  As long as she stays downstairs, that's fine."  I guess I was more scared of losing my money than of a ghost!  Money talks, and ghosts can walk as far as I'm concerned. (But if I had known that before....hell, no, I wouldn't have stayed there!)

Subject: Bullock Hotel Deadwood SD

We stayed at the Bullock Hotel in Deadwood SD a few years back when I was a kid.  We didn't know at the time that it was haunted, so when someone knocked at the door we answered it!  Nobody was there and everyone in the room heard it!  Later we found out that the spirits had been busy in the neighboring rooms the last couple of nights.  Turning on TV's real loud and slamming doors.  My cousin and I didn't sleep a wink all night!  It was fun!

Subject: Crescent Hotel

We recently had an 'active' weekend at the Crescent.  The 'History Room' on the first floor is so clammy and thick-very hard to breathe the longer you stay in there.  Also, we had a door slam on us in an unauthorized tour of the basement.  I held the door twice and it did close, but very slowly.  We experienced the same thick presence in the 4th floor hall and I took a picture of my husband to find a mans' face in the window along with a mist near the ceiling that I don't remember seeing.  Would love to hear other stories and share pictures of the hotel!

Subject: haunted farnsworth house experience

My stay at the Farnsworth House back in November of 2001. The first night we stayed in the Sara Black room.  Before dinner we left the light on next to the bed, so we could see when we came back in later that night.  (I had done this intentionally) We went to have dinner and drinks in the bar under the Farnsworth House - and then off to the cellar where we joined others to listen to stories of ghosts that had been reported to haunt the B&B.

After we left the Cellar, we walked back out in front of the B&B and noticed that the light had been turned off in our room.  We inquired about this before we headed to bed, and were assured that no one had entered our room.

It's important to note that on this first night, my husband and I were the only people in the B&B - the proprietors do not live in the home.  We got to bed about midnight and at first my husband didn't want to turn the lights off - I insisted that we did, joking that he was superstitious.  (He did sleep with his clothes on though!)  I'd say that not much time had passed when we both heard what sounded like footsteps walking back and forth above our heads....The attic was directly above us, and I had a strange experience there that I will elaborate on a little further in the story.  So, that was when I (the skeptic) started getting spooked.  The footsteps were loud and obvious, and I may as well have been glued to my bed.  It goes without saying, that at this point we were no where near falling into a peaceful sleep.

In the hall between the bedrooms there is a timed light that stays on during the night.  As we were lying there, we keep seeing what seemed like black shadows back and forth, as if someone were walking down the hall. Neither one of us brought this up at the moment - I was too afraid he'd run out and down the street to a nice modern Hotel, and he was afraid if he told me I'd keep teasing him about being the 'scared' one.

All night these footsteps kept on and on and on.  The sense in the room was overwhelmingly malevolent - it was like something just didn't like us being there.

The next night we switched rooms and moved to the Jennie Wade room.  There was another couple now staying in the Sara Black room.  We were quite pleased to find out that we weren't going to be the only people in the B&B that night!  That second night was when I went from skeptic to awkward believer.  Unlike the Sara Black room there didn't seem to be an overwhelming sense of foreboding, however as soon as we got into bed - the strange ensued.

Firstly, I was rubbing my husbands back, we were chatting - not really scared at this point.  All of a sudden the light next to the bed went out.  Okay - I assured him, that it was more than likely just a short, and turned it back on.  Back to the Back Rub.  Once again, the light goes off.  So now, I'm starting to feel like something is definitely not right with this place.  Once again I turn the light back on, and proceed to rub his back - no more than 10 seconds afterwards did it go back off.

Back Rub Ends!  I told him I wasn't about to turn that light back on!  He agreed and told me he was going to sleep in his clothes again.  This time, I did as well.  After we are lying there in our clothes, we were chatting quitely - and I asked him if he heard something....He said "No" and we continued talking.  I interrupted him again and told him to listen.  He heard it this time, and got out of bed to walk into the bathroom where the noise seemed to be coming from.  The water had been turned on in the bathtub.  He turned it off.  About 1 minute later the water turns itself back on, except this time it's running harder than before.  About this time I have the covers pulled up to my chest, gripping the sheets with my fists trying to convince myself not to run out of there and down the street to the nice new hotel.  The third time my husband got up to turn the water off, as he was leaning over into the tub, did the water in the facet come on.  No matter what he did, just like the light - it was not going to stay off.  So, we are now in the dark, with the water running in the bathroom.

As we continued to lie there and discuss whether or not we should leave - did the window frame start banging - the wooden window frame on the Inside of the room, Not the outside.  My husband got up walked over to the window, it stopped instantly.  This keep happening, each time my husband would walk to the window would it stop cold.  So, now we were in the dark, water running, window banging.  Doesn't get much better than this!  Or could it?

One of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me was in the wee hours in the morning - I woke up to my name being called - but not my current name - a name that I had used when I lived in Los Angeles and was trying to become an actress.  I woke up my husband and asked him "Stop calling me by that name! You're freaking me out!"  He rolled over and looked at me like I was crazy - There is one reason and one reason only that I did not run out of that House and down the street to the other Hotel.  I was too scared!  Too scared to get out of the bed!  That's pretty bad, for a skeptic that is.

The next morning my husband walked down to the car to load our bags.  I was getting ready in the bathroom and open the pull shade to look outside at the weather.  As I walked back out into the bedroom then walked back into the bathroom the pull shade had been pulled entirely all the way down to the ground.  I ran out, and my husband finished packing my things.

As we were checking out I asked the owner about the attic and asked him if anyone spent any time up there - or if anyone had been up there last night.  He looked at me, bewildered - and told me that the attic is off limits to guests and that it's kept locked through their security system.  I told him that each time I had gone up during the two days we had stayed there - that the door was just slightly cracked open and that I hadn't known it was off limits.

If you think it doesn't get weirder - when we arrived back in North Carolina and my husband was emptying his pant pockets did he realize he hadn't returned his key to the Jennie Wade Room.  I was like: "That's nice, so you brought her back with us?"  Sure enough there was some very bizarre things happening in our home after that (a new home) I sent it back in the mail with a letter telling them that that place had converted a formally die hard skeptic.

Subject: Myrtles Plantation

My daughter and I celebrated her recent birthday by staying in the Fannie Williams Room.  I had my bare feet tickled by tiny fingers and heard children's giggles; she heard an authorative male voice but was unable to make out the words. I previous trips there, we have both experienced a choking sensation as we walked near two of the trees and I 've gotten feelings of terror- extreme need to escape- while standing in a certain area of what had been the kitchen. We are looking forward to more visits. I recommend an overnight visit to the Myrtles.

Subject: ghost at Lemp Mansion

A good friend and I had the pleasure of staying over night in the Lemp Mansion about four years ago.  We discovered quite fast that it did indeed host several earthbound entities.   We were staying in the Lavendar Suite.  I was in our room alone, to plug in the camcorder,  when I heard a female whisper in my right ear "Help me".  Chills ran through my whole body and I said outloud, "Please don't scare me like that while I'm alone."  I joined my friend back downstairs and relayed my 'conversation' to him.  Earlier that day, we took the tour after we checked in and while we were in Charles Lemp's room my necklace came unscrewed and fell down my body onto my feet.  Maybe that was just coincidence, but it felt pretty spooky to me.  I also have a photograph, that I took of the piano and window on the second story landing, that has a wide, white vapor/mist shape on the picture.  The photo was taken mid-morning as we were checking out.  Imagine my surprise when I had them developed.  My stay at the Lemp Mansion in St.Louis really changed my perception of the whole ghost thing,  I now truely believe that some souls are so tortured or wrapped up in an event, that they are earthbound and can communicate with the living.  I would love to go back and investigate and someday I will.

Subject: Haunted Bed and Breakfast

We recently stayed at the Vizcaya Manor in Sacramento, California. When we got there, it was late at night and raining.  An old man (we are still not decided if he was "real" or not) told us that we had the presidential suite...the entire 3rd floor.  We could hardly believe our "luck".  The place is very beautiful.  As soon as we walked in, we had that "eerie" feeling, even though we had heard nothing about the place being haunted.  My husband asked the man if there were any ghosts there, and the man laughed and asked if we really wanted to know.  We said yes of course, we aren't scared.  He said, well, only the 3rd floor.  We proceeded up the 1st 2 flights of stairs, which were normal sized staircases...but the flight of stairs to the 3rd floor was narrow and steep.  On the way up, both of our hearts started pounding VERY hard and we both became short of breath (and it had nothing to do with climbing 3 flights of stairs!).  At the top of the stairs, we had the strongest feeling of a presence.  All night long, we had this feeling. Although we never actually saw a ghost, we are convinced that there is the ghost of someone who perhaps fell down those stairs.  The room, by the way, was a gorgeous three room suite with a huge marble jacuzzi tub. Anyway, about a week later, we went back tobook the room again for another trip, and it was no longer available.  The room, on any other website, is actually more like 200.00.  The whole experience was really weird, but I would highly recommend this place to anyone for both romance and ghosts!

Subject: Our Stay At The Haunted Lemp Mansion

I went to the Lemp Mansion for the first time last weekend, which was March 2nd and 3rd. The whole mansion was to our group because we had 8 people. When we first arrived there nothing really happened, but after about an hour things started to get a little scary. I stayed with my mom, sister, and dad in the Lavender Room with the HUGE bathroom. I went in the bathroom to change and everyone was in the other half of the room. I put one foot in the bathroom, then another and I hear the toilet flushing and ran out of the bathroom. I asked my parents if anyone was in there and there wasn't. We went back in the bathroom to check it out and nothing had happened. Later, a couple of us were sitting in the hallway just talking and we hear the walkie talkies that we had brought turn on and make the static noise. Shortly after that, the rug hanging above the steps going upstairs, started shaking. I ran in and got the camera and took a picture of it to see if anything came out in the picture and sure enough, in the picture there was a large white ball that looked like smoke. The scariest thing that had happened at our stay was when we were in the basemeant in the daytime. We all were just looking around and one of our friends that was with us heard a barking noise and she was the only one that heard it. So, later when we came home, I pulled up some information about the Lemp Mansion and I found out about one of the Lemp's had shot his dog then shot himself in the basemeant. I honestly think that there are spirits in Lemp Mansion and I truely enjoyed my stay there. I encourage anyone to go and visit. If you're to scared to stay the night, at least go to the lunch or dinner there. They have very good food.

Subject: Hotel St Michael Prescott Arizona

My husband and I went for a weekend trip to Prescott Arizona where we stayed at the Hotel St Michael. Our first encounter was when my husband and I were first in the room and we sat down on the bed to watch some t.v. My husband had his feet dangling off of the end of the bed and all of a sudden he sat right up. He said that something cold had passed his foot and his foot was tingling. We didn't think much about it at the time. Then later that night, we had just gone up the stairs to our room (the hallway was empty) and I stayed out in the hallway while my husband got something in the room. Heading back down the stairs I was captured by the strong oder of a womans perfume..it was an old type of perfume that I hadn't smelled since my Grandmother was alive (like a powdery lilac or something). I made my husband go back up the stairs to where it had been strong and he smelled it too. Then, in the middle of the night, my husband woke up and he said that as clear as day he heard from the foot of our bed a woman say "Show your face". He said it wasn't scary, and almost playful. It did catch his attention though. I have no doubt that we were witness to something ghostly.

A friend of mine stayed at the Bearskin Lodge in Gatlinburg TN. I don't remember the Room number, but he said he was sitting on the bed watching TV when all of the sudden the right side of the bed went down like someone sat down beside him and he had to catch himself from falling off. He of course jumped up knowing noone else was in the room. I am curious if anyone else has experienced anything at this lodge.

There's a haunted Inn that I'm surprised I haven't sent anything in about until now.  Anyway it's called the Riders Inn Bed and Breakfast and it's located in Painesville, Ohio. Its address is 792 Mentor Avenue Painesville, Ohio 44077.  And I apologize, but I couldn't find a clear story behind its ghost, Mistress Suzanne.  Although I tried, there was nothing I could find.  This Inn has a ghost cam posted in it.  Although the ghost cam seems off-line at the time.  I just thought this would be an interesting location for your list.

You might want to add the Bella Maggiore of Ventura, California, to your list of haunted places to stay.  It is said that there are ghosts that roam the hallways and a special visitor comes knocking on room #17's door.  She is known as Sylvia and was a prostitute who committed suicide in the room around World War II.  She is said to knock and appear at the door only if the room is occupied by a lonely male.

Subject: Salem Inn, MA

My family and I stayed in the Salem Inn a few years ago, about 6, there was one bedroom in our room, and a fold out couch in our living room. My sister and I stayed on the couch, while our parents stayed in the bedroom. We also had a kitchen.  during the night my sister and I thought our parents were in the kitchen, clanging dishes, and turning the water on and off, using the appliances ( microwave and coffee pot) and flushing the toilet in the bathroom.  We were up for a good part of the night, and thought our parents were too, but in the morning they swore they slept soundly.  But who was in the kitchen? My sister and I were glad we only stayed one night.  The weirdest thing is when we got home,  our grandmother told us she saw a show about haunted inns and the one we stayed in  was featured.  Our parents still say they never heard anything.

Subject: Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove is said to be haunted and was written about in Ghosts! Personal Accounts of Modern Mississippi Hauntings by Sylvia Booth Hubbard. People have said to hear the original owners' children running and laughing on the main staircase, smelled pipe tobacco in the Library (where the original owner used to smoke in the afternoons) although smoking is now not allowed in the home, people have heard a shot and glass breaking coming from the ballroom where a young woman (daughter of a later owner) shot and killed herself. Lights have also been known to come back on mysteriously after being turned off and the ghost of a former tour guide in her Pilgrimage outfit has been spotted as well.

Subject: Story behind Copper Queen hotel...

Last weekend, two friends of mine decided to stay at this hotel. The front office lady leaves at 9:00 PM, and comes back at 7 AM the next morning. She does this because of the story benhind the hotel. 3 people were murdered here, a mother, a father and their daughter. The lady gave them the key. They were the only 2 at the hotel, so they had access to anything they wanted. They left because my friend's shirt was being tugged, he turned around and no one was there. They also heard voices...voices that were saying "The Demons" in Spanish. They heard rifts across the floor, and they could just sense the evil in the hotel. So they freaked out and left. They came home and told their roomate about it and he called the lady that owned the hotel and started making fun of her and mocking her. Minutes later while they were eating, his fork bent and tried to gouge one of them in the eye, so they all ran out of the house. On Thanksgiving..the fan kept turning on and off. Hope this helps.

Subject: Elizabethtown Hotel (formerly Elizabethtown Inn)

Hi.We just stayed at the above mentioned hotel in Elizabethtown, PA and
the next morning the owner asked us if we had encountered anything unusual.
Apparently there are supposed to be hauntings in the building. The hotel
was first opened in the early 1900's and is currently under renovations to
open to public soon (we play in a band that played in the "club" attached to
the hotel and since we were from out of town the owner set us up in 4 of the
hotels rooms)Is the ghost claim a ploy to bring customers?Hard to say.
We did (in hindsight) hear some strange sounds (knockings) and found a chair
in the middle of the hallway for no explainable reason.Could have been the
owner messing with us too.But the next a.m. at breakfast he swears the
place is indeed haunted.

Subject: Grove Park Inn

While staying at the Grove Park Inn in July of 2001, my husband, daughter and I had an unusual experience.I was standing at the bathroom sink applying my makeup. All of a sudden, the knob for the cold water started turning all by itself.Of course, the water came on.I just assumed that I had not turned the knob far enough to completely turn it off when I had brushed my teeth, but it was an uneasy feeling, all the same.I told my daughter about it, and she didn't believe me.I dismissed the event from my mind and proceeded to go into another part of the room.No one was around the sink, or even in the same room.Suddenly, the water came on again, all by itself. My daughter and my husband saw it for themselves and didn't think Mom was so nutty any more.I tried making this phenomenon happen again by tightly turning the water off to see if it would "spring" on and by loosely turning the water off to see if it would work it's way back on.Nothing would duplicate what had happened, and it didn't happen again for our entire stay.Could it have been the "Pink Lady?"

Subject: Ghost at Holiday Inn Grand Island

This ghost of the little girl is definitely true! My very good friend worked the front desk over night there for about a year. One time she was getting prank phone calls. The switchboard showed that the calls were coming from the payphone in the lobby. Finally, once she got tired of answering the phone she decided to run around the corner and catch whoever was crank calling. But as she looked around the corner as the phone was ringing there was no one there! They also have pictures of what appears to be smoke in the form of what looks like a young girl with curly hair. The problem is that they were taken in non-smoking banquet rooms. She said people would always complain about a child running around at all hours of the night. One woman called down to the front desk to report an unattended little girl in the ladies' in the lobby!!

Subject: Syracuse, NY

I stayed at The Comfort Inn in Syracuse (Thompson Rd), NY last month (September 2002)...room 119.I was awoken around 3 am and saw something floating near the end of my bed.Thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, so went back to sleep.A little while later, I was awoken again.I saw 2 green loops going from floor to ceiling with a lot of bright sparkles coming out of it.Thought I was really tired, and went back to sleep.A short time later, I woke up and a man was right next to me, staring at me.He looked like he was from a different era...maybe the 1920's.He looked like he had been working outside.I stared at him, and he dissolved right then and there. I must have passed out, because I don't remember anything else...and forgot all about it until later the next day. When I got home, I looked on the internet, and I found out that there was a rock mine explosion there in 1918.50 men where killed, 15 never found.Others have claimed to seegreen lights in the area of the mine.I called the hotel and asked if anyone else had reported anything odd happening at the hotel. The clerk said co-workers who stay overnight sometimes report that "someone was in my room last night".The night manager said that around 3 or 4 am, the elevators go crazy, up and down and open and close, and there's no one on them.My theory is that it is one of the unfound men.He looked harmless enough and the hotel was really nice, but I'm never staying there again.

Subject: The Myrtles Plantation

My daughter and I stayed at the Myrtles Plantation this past July and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. Our first slightly paranormal experience occurred as we checked in.We received our key to the Fannie Williams suite and proceeded to the room. After several attempts to get the key to work with no success, I sent my daughter back down to the desk to retrieve another key or some assistance. When she left I was the only one upstairs; as we were the first arrivals, no one else had checked in.I was completely alone and it felt quite strange.I attempted the lock once more and they key turned without any effort!I admit at this point I was a bit too scared to enter the room alone and waited until my daughter returned to enter the room!It was a beautiful room and we settled in nicely.Taking a short nap for we knew we wanted to stay up most of the night, we had no interruptions in our rest. After having dinner and taking the Mystery tour, we returned to our room and found that my shoes had been turned differently than they were previously! Not taking that too seriously, we introduced ourselves to the rest of the quests for the evening and spent most of the night chatting with them!We took several digital photos of orbs, mist and a curious red light that was flashing in a few of the upstairs windows and as we looked through one of the other suites, we definitely experienced the famous scent of cigar smoke and cold spots associated with that suite. There were depressions in furniture where no one was sitting and it was quite thrilling. As we were gathered on the back porch we heard the distinct sound of someone trying to open the door to the General Bradford Suite -- but no one was there.Much later that night, when my daughter and I tried to settle down for rest, as I was drifting off, I felt someone tug at my toes!My feet were completely under the covers and there was no way my daughter could have done this!I sat straight up in bed and shrieked and then giggled at myself for doing so.Absolutely none of the experiences that we had -- although hard to explain -- never left me with the feeling that the spirits were out to hurt us in any way. They just wanted to let us know they were there!

Subject: Aaron Burr House, New Hope

My Husband and I stayed at the Aaron Burr House Bed & Breakfast, part of the  Wedgewood Inn Group.I woke in the middle of the night to hear a drawer opening and closing.Actually sounded like continual slamming of a drawer. The only drawer in the room was at the bottom of an armoir. On the top of the armoir was a wig or hat stand with a hat on it.The next morning when I got up, I was scared to death to move, the hat was laying on top of the armoir.I opened and closed the drawer and that was the sound I heard. We placed the hat back on the stand, where it stayed for the rest of the visit.
