For The Campground At James Island County Park: We have camped so many places across the United States, and this is by far our favorite campground. There is so much to do here, and everybody is so friendly and professional. We live here, and we love to camp at this park as often as possible.

For The Campground At James Island County Park: Great huge county park. They tell campers to take Camp Rd to avoid low lying trees on Central Park Drive. We wee in site 9, which we liked due to proximity to walking trails and restrooms, plus only 1close neighbor. There is a huge park a short walk nearby. There are 3 paved walking/biking trails ranging from 1.1-1.6 miles. They have a small shuttle that will take campers to downtown, Folley Beach or the Pier. However, dogs are not allowed. It only makes 1 trip per day. Drop off to downtown is at 9am and pick up is at 4pm. (The beach is 11am and 3pm.) Many people uber back. (We found uber to be ~$15-30 each way to downtown. Bathrooms were pretty good, clean. Although there were no shower anti-slip mats or paper towels - just hand driers. Lots of activities if you have kids. we don’t. Lots of mosquitos at dawn and dusk so bring a screen room. Sites are dirt so I suggest a large mat. We are in a 22’ camper van and are relatively new to camping. 4 stars - I moved a star because of lack of adequate shuttle info until check in. Would stay again.

For The Campground At James Island County Park: Mike and Cheryl here. We have a 44 foot Class A RV. Here is my review of the campground at James Island County Park. Getting to the campground can be a challenge. Lots of traffic. Several roads like Center Road is in bad condition. Do not take Center Road and River road if you have a high clearance RV. Use Camp road. The roads in the campground are paved and in good condition. Trees are trimmed but there are a few that hit the motorhome roof. The campground office was open and everyone were friendly. They provide a map to your site. Nice camp store. There is a large area for parking while checking in. The road signage to our site is not needed. Sites have fire pits and firewood is available at the camp store. Our site was 35, a pull thru site with a picnic table. The campground has sunny sites and shaded sites. Our site was level. The site was dry. The site was gravel. The campground has no seasonal folks. The bath house is nice and clean. The camp host were were friendly and social. Laundry is good. There is no pool but you can pay extra for the splash park. There is ping pong, fuss ball, & cornhole. There is no workout fitness room. There is no restaurant on site, but the campground is close to town. Cable TV service is not available. Wifi is available and is OK. Over air antenna worked fine. No road noise to note. Our site was long and wide. Lots of room. The grounds were well maintained and looked nice. Some of the sites are close to each other and some are right on the main road which is busy. We liked site 35. Other sites like 48, 47, 125, 122, & 119 are very good. We would come back. Dream Big, Travel Far, Live Well...

HJD

For The Campground At James Island County Park: This is a great park. Good with or without kids. It’s a huge park with a campground in it, and it’s proximity to Charleston is great. Trail system is really nice. Didn’t use the dog park but it’s huge. Most camp sites have sewer connections around the perimeter. Bathrooms were very nice and new. Just a great 3 day stay. Sites are pretty level with sand/dirt base.
