For Palmetto Island State Park: Very nice State Park. Wooded and spacious sites with bushes/space between neighbors. Roads leading into park are rough and narrow but manageable. Bathroom/Free Laundry was nice & clean. Dump Station on entry road. Quiet at night and we would stay here again !

For Palmetto Island State Park: Great park. Saw lots of wildlife. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Sites were gravel with trees or shrubs separating sites. Last 3 or 4 miles of entry roads were pretty narrow. Also LA roads in area were very rough. Would stay here again.

For Palmetto Island State Park: I can only echo the positive reviews already posted. Clean, well maintained facility. The road into the park looks daunting at times, but my understanding from local residents is that it will soon be resurfaced and widened. Plenty to do in the are and Abbeville has several good restaurants. I have already booked my return for next year.

For Palmetto Island State Park: What a gem—-sites are large, well drained and level. Some have concrete pads but the gravel sites are just fine. We have a 25’ Airstream and found most sites here are more than adequate to accommodate it and our truck. Bathrooms and showers are outstanding as is the laundry room (new equipment in the one we used). Only suggestion is to get there before dark and set up—this is southern LA and while they do spray, the mosquitoes are active at dusk. Great park—compliments to those that take care of this place

For Palmetto Island State Park: Lovely bayou location, fine birding, plenty of armadillos and raccoons. We heard the fishing was good. The sites were level and thick vegetation provided visual privacy. Bring your kayak as there is a paddling trail. We saw one alligator while paddling. As we are birders and fans of quiet enjoyment, the only negative for us was the park’s weekend party culture, which was confirmed as customary by the host. If listening to loud speakers and partiers from several campsites is not your idea of a good time, avoid Friday and Saturday. Or select a site in the front of your the campground near site 2. The partiers didn’t seem to like this area. Otherwise join the crowd in the back sites and crank up the zydeco!

For Palmetto Island State Park: March 2018: Stayed 6 days, wished we would have done more. Nice place to hunker down and enjoy nature. Spring weather was perfect, not hot or humid. Hosts made our stay wonderful. Firewood was delivered to our site for free. Green and full of great little wonders of wildlife from spectacular butterflies, orchids and even armadillos and alligators, too. No concerns about safety but you do need to be careful. They have cheap canoe rentals and a cool series of lagoons and a water trail, a water park for the kids, and lots of trails to explore. Come here to hang out and enjoy the park, and then see some of the great places around here, and Dupuy's Oyster House?EXCELLENT Cajun food.
