Campground Directions:
Accessible via a moderately difficult seven-mile hike from Two Harbors or a two-and-a-half-mile hike from Emerald Bay . You can also kayak to the campground. In order to reach the island, boat transportation is the most popular and easiest way to travel. Catalina Express passenger boats leave from San Pedro, Long Beach, Dana Point. The Catalina Flyer departs from Newport Beach. All of those ports access Avalon, on the east end of the island. In order to travel to Two Harbors (the Isthmus) on the west end of the island, passenger boats leave from San Pedro only. Boat transportation is for people, no vehicles allowed. Another way to reach the island is by private boat or plane/helicopter.
